Product Analysis Draft (2)

The article “Fleet One Helps Narrow Down Important Data” introduces the Fleet One Vehicle Tracking system which is developed by WEX Fleet One. It offers a wide range of GPS fleet tracking solutions to both the private and government sectors, catering to vehicle fleets of varying sizes.

According to Goetz (2011), Fleet One’s digital platform consists of a two-way touch screen interface for better fleet information management. The system is made cost effective with value-added features such as online account and “fuel purchasing management” reducing fraud at fuel pumps. To aid new users, training provided by GPS salesperson is available via both online and offline platforms.

Additionally, Fleet One also has two types of fuel cards which allow companies to transact using credits and monitor drivers’ activities online. The cards All roads fuel card and Over the road fuel card, are differentiable by the extent of the distance the fleet vehicle travels.

According to GPS Insight (https://www.gpsinsight.com/), it also has a fleet monitoring system with additional Fuel integration card.

We will be evaluating Fleet One’s system base on 3 factors, its functions, ease of usage and how beneficial it is to the companies.

The software is the essence of a product. In this section, we will be focusing on GPS system fuel card functions. Fleet One’s GPS system is able to locate the nearest and cheapest fuel Kiosk, monitor and notify drivers on road conditions. GPS insight also provide a fuel card function. But it does not provide fuel price indication for price comparison between kiosk, which could result in unnecessary fuel expenses. Therefore, Fleet One’s system is more holistically sound which is evident from the comparison with GPS Insight, a fleet management company.

In addition, convenience and the ease of usage of a product are what customers look out for. According to Fleet One’s website, its cards are accepted nationwide at over 60,000 convenience stores and 7,100 truck stops as compared to GPS Insight’s fuel card which is accepted at 45,000 stores. With more available kiosk stations in collaboration with Fleet One, drivers would be able to seek maintenance faster which in turn increases the company’s efficiency, productivity and income by reducing time on searching for appropriate services. Therefore, in the case of convenience, Fleet One has been proven its stand.

All in all, I feel that Fleet One’s invention is holistic and beneficial in terms of efficiency to the end-users in Telematics industry.

    Dear Sheryl,

We enjoyed reading your product analysis as we got to understand your product better.
However, we have identified some areas you may improve on:

    1) APA format for in-text citation require the date> According to GPS Insight https://www.gpsinsight.com/ (n.d.)

    2) Transition words such as Therefore”, “additionally” can be reduced.

    3) Use APA format reference list

We look forward to learning from you!

    Regards,

Thanks very much, Sheryl, for this effort. You present a decent product description that details some functions and features of both Fleet One and GPS Insight. Your language is clear and generally grammatically accurate. One problem is the way that you have designated the article you are citing (for additional comments, see below). The article is actually “The Evolution of Telematics” (Fletcher & Suizo, 2011), from the website Automotive Fleet, of which one section is Fleet One Helps Narrow Down Important Data. You quote Goetz, but you can simply report that he is a product specialist for Fleet One.

After your Fleet One product description, you were supposed to articulate a thesis statement/stand, but what you provide is actually a purpose statement. Although I am able to get a sense for exactly how your subsequent analysis is organized, I don’t see your opinion until the conclusion. Related to this, when I read the analysis, I see a clear comparison being made. Your thesis, or even a purpose statement, needs to foreshadow that.

Finally, I see no mentioned made of “automated reporting,” which seems to be an important feature of Fleet One; you do mention the two types of fuel cards, which I can’t find in the article.

    Here are more specific comments:

    1) Your product description summary should be one paragraph.

1.1) “Fleet One Helps Narrow down Important Data”
    >>> wrong title
    >>> “The Evolution of Telematics “(Fletcher & Suizo, 2011)….

    2) The cards All roads fuel card and Over the road fuel card, are differentiable by the extent of the distance the fleet vehicle travels. >>> Where did you get this info?

    2.1) differentiable >>> ?

2.2) All roads fuel card and Over the road fuel card >>> proper names should be capitalized… Are these proper names?

    3) According to Goetz (2011), >>> As mentioned, this is not correct. You don’t need citation info here. Goetz is NOT the author of a separate article. Who is he? He is simply quoted from the section on Fleet One in the Fletcher & Luzio article.

    4) evaluating Fleet One’s system base on >>> (wrong verb form)

    5) According to GPS Insight (https://www.gpsinsight.com/), it also has a fleet monitoring system with additional Fuel integration card. >>>
According to the GPS Insight website (https://www.gpsinsight.com/), GPS Insight also has a fleet monitoring system with additional fuel integration card.

Do you see why the revised sentence is better?

But whatever the case, this sentence seems out of place. Are you really comapring GPS Insight and Fleet One?

    6) Fleet One’s GPS system is able to locate the nearest and cheapest fuel Kiosk, monitor and notify drivers on road conditions.
    >>>
Fleet One’s GPS system is able to locate the nearest and cheapest fuel Kiosk, AND monitor and notify drivers on road conditions.

    7) improper or no use of citation conventions:
    — According to GPS Insight (https://www.gpsinsight.com/), >>> According to GPS Insight (n.d.),
    — According to Fleet One’s website, >>> where is the in-text citation info?

    8) Your topic sentences connected to the purpose statement?

    9) Is that a reference list? In APA style?

    Let’s work on this.
